Mission Statement

"The purpose and mission of the Chautauqua shall be the advancement of literary, scientific, intellectual, physical, and social welfare and the promotion of cultural and religious activities, recreation and entertainment."

The organization also functions as a billing and collections conduit for local government entities and provides maintenance service for historic buildings, parks, and playgrounds within the community.

Pennsylvania Chautauqua Foundation

The Pennsylvania Chautauqua Foundation is a separate and independent corporation created to support cultural and educational programs in Mt. Gretna. It has specific responsibility for the Cicada Festival, the Sunday Mini-Concerts, and the Thursday Evening Organ Recitals.

The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, IRS EIN #25-1891188. A copy of the official registration of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua Foundation's financial information may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll-free, within PA, 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement (registration filed on March 28, 2001).

Hall of Philosophy (Community Building)

The Chautauqua Community Building is used to support the programs and events scheduled by the Chautauqua and organizations supporting the Chautauqua. In addition, the building is available for rent by Chautauqua shareholders and the general public. For more details on the facility please consult the Resident Handbook.
